The announcement today by Minister Karen Andrews of a 1m$ "Accelerating Commercialisation" grant for Sea Forest's (www.seaforest.com.au) methane reducing seaweed technology is a welcome sign that the government is serious about the challenge of commercialisation in Australia (https://lnkd.in/grJDrY8).
Turning the red algae 'idea' into a commercial product will mean overcoming many challenges, including industrial, regulatory, logistics, commercial distribution, often across multiple countries, to name a few. Solving these will require persistence, management skills and a lot more money than 1m$. The topics and are often overlooked in the innovation strategy planning. A good first step nonetheless and I am sure the team at Sea Forest are up for the challenge.
